Dr Michael Kirk Moore is a Utah physician and decorated U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon who became one of the clearest examples of pandemic-era government overreach against a doctor simply honouring his Hippocratic oath. When patients came to him facing impossible choices, job loss, military discharge or being denied a life-saving organ transplant unless they accepted an experimental injection, he gave many of them saline shots with full informed consent, so they could hold onto their convictions without losing their livelihoods.
That compassion came at a steep personal cost. Dr Moore was indicted and spent 22 days in custody, much of it in isolation, all while raising his two children alone following the loss of his ex-wife in 2019. In July 2025, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered every charge against him dropped, saying he gave his patients a choice when the federal government refused to.
