Dr Lewis Coleman MD

Dr Lewis Coleman spent 40 years in private practice as a board-certified anaesthesiologist, working across labour and delivery, trauma, paediatric, thoracic, geriatric and neuro anaesthesia. He trained at Ohio State University and New York Medical College, then completed his surgical internship and anaesthesiology residency at UCLA. He's now retired from clinical practice and serves as Chief Scientist of The American Institute of Stress.
Over his career he's developed what he calls the Mammalian Stress Mechanism, a theory he believes offers a unified explanation for how stress drives disease, from atherosclerosis through to COVID and long COVID. He's written two books on the subject and published extensively in journals covering anaesthesia, cardiology and stress medicine.
Lewis will be sharing the story of how he arrived at this theory, what it means for the future of surgery and medicine, and may also touch on his own experience with a malpractice lawsuit along the way.
